LG Group today announced a significant strategic alliance with U.S. chip giant Nvidia Corp., committing to the joint development of cutting-edge artificial intelligence models and the expansion of their respective AI ecosystems.
This critical collaboration was solidified during a Tuesday meeting in Seoul between Lim Woo-hyung, Co-Chief of LG AI Research (LG Group’s dedicated AI laboratory), and Bryan Catanzaro, Vice President of Applied Deep Learning Research at Nvidia. Both leaders affirmed their commitment to advancing technological cooperation specifically to enhance and broaden the EXAONE AI ecosystem.
At the core of LG AI Research’s innovation is EXAONE, a leading multimodal AI model powered by advanced large language model capabilities, initially launched in 2021.
Looking ahead, the partnership is set to expand strategically, focusing on the joint development of highly specialized, domain-specific AI models. This will be achieved by synergizing LG’s EXAONE with Nvidia’s robust Nemotron open ecosystem, creating powerful new AI solutions.
This deepened alliance builds upon a foundation of extensive technical collaboration between LG AI Research and Nvidia, which has been instrumental across multiple development phases. This includes key milestones from EXAONE 3.0 all the way to the recently unveiled, advanced multimodal AI EXAONE 4.5 earlier this month.
