K-water, Korea’s leading water resource management corporation, announced Friday a landmark **export of its advanced AI water treatment plant operation technology to Vietnam**. This significant deal marks the **first international commercialization** of K-water’s innovative **AI-based water management system**.

Through a strategic contract with Kenh Dong JSC, a key subsidiary of Ho Chi Minh City’s prominent water utility, SAWACO, **K-water will deploy its cutting-edge AI-powered operational system** at the crucial **Kenh Dong water treatment plant** in Vietnam.

Valued at approximately 1.1 billion won ($810,000), this multi-phase project encompasses the full automation of chemical dosing processes, implementation of an advanced energy management system, a comprehensive plant management system, and an intelligent video-based monitoring platform. These features aim to revolutionize **water treatment plant efficiency**.

This groundbreaking deal signifies the **inaugural overseas deployment of K-water’s proprietary AI water management technology**, a system initially developed and successfully piloted at the Hwaseong water treatment plant in South Korea.

The sophisticated **AI system** leverages real-time data analytics to precisely optimize critical operations, including chemical input, energy consumption, and overall facility conditions. This ensures enhanced operational stability, significant cost efficiency, and exemplifies **smart water management solutions**.

Strategically located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest economic center, the Kenh Dong plant boasts an impressive daily treatment capacity of 200,000 cubic meters, providing essential drinking water to approximately 380,000 households.

Facing escalating challenges from climate change-driven water quality degradation and burgeoning demand due to population growth and industrial expansion, the Kenh Dong plant urgently required advanced solutions. K-water initiated discussions with Vietnamese authorities in September of last year, leading to this pivotal agreement for its **AI-powered water management system**.

This project is profoundly significant, not merely for tackling real-world operational hurdles at a vital urban infrastructure facility, but more importantly, for successfully exporting a full-scale, integrated operational solution, rather than just standalone equipment. This underscores K-water’s commitment to **comprehensive water technology exports**.

Domestically, K-water has been aggressively expanding the adoption of its **AI water treatment technology** across numerous facilities. This proven technology is already operational at major plants and has been successfully extended to key partners, including Busan Metropolitan City and the Korea Mine Rehabilitation and Mineral Resources Corporation, showcasing its broad applicability.

The tangible benefits are clear: 43 large-scale water treatment plants in Korea utilizing K-water’s **AI system** have collectively realized annual cost savings amounting to approximately 11 billion won, demonstrating a strong return on investment in **smart water solutions**.

This cutting-edge **water technology** has also garnered significant global recognition, notably winning a prestigious “Lighthouse” award in 2024. It is now attracting widespread international interest as a practical and sustainable solution to pressing industry-wide challenges, including climate change impacts on water resources, escalating energy costs, and the critical shortage of skilled water operators.

Further solidifying its leadership, K-water is actively engaged in establishing international standards for its **AI water treatment technology**. Current efforts are focused on developing ISO 25288, a move that is poised to position K-water’s innovative **AI system** as the definitive global benchmark for advanced water treatment operations worldwide.

“This milestone marks the first instance where **AI water management technology**, meticulously developed and successfully applied within Korea, has transitioned into a tangible overseas project,” stated K-water CEO Yun Seog-dae. He added, “We are committed to continuously expanding the **export of Korean water technologies** and empowering domestic firms to successfully penetrate global markets with our innovative solutions.”
