Woori Financial Group Chairman Lim Jong-ryong recently outlined the group’s strategic priorities for the second half of 2026, urging banking and nonbank affiliates to accelerate their operations and enhance customer-centricity. This forward-looking directive aims to outpace competitors and solidify the group’s market position.

Speaking at Woori Financial’s pivotal second-half management strategy workshop, held at the group’s headquarters in Hoehyeon-dong, central Seoul, Chairman Lim emphasized the critical need for enhanced collaboration across all divisions to fuel their next phase of robust growth.

“While the second quarter marked a period where Woori Financial regained its confidence, the second half presents a crucial opportunity to build significant momentum for another transformative leap forward,” stated Chairman Lim, underscoring the group’s ambitious vision.

He further articulated, “For the second half of the year, the entire holding company, alongside all banking and nonbank affiliates, must operate as a unified entity, placing customers at the core of every decision and executing strategies with greater speed than our rivals.”

The comprehensive workshop included key presentations from major affiliates, focusing on innovative customer growth strategies. Woori Bank unveiled plans to significantly broaden its customer base and strengthen cross-selling initiatives throughout the group. Concurrently, Woori Card detailed its generation-specific marketing approaches, while Woori Insurance presented measures to deepen group synergies and expand its nonfinancial service offerings. Woori Investment Securities also shared its customer acquisition plans, carefully tailored to current market trends.

To bolster its nonbank business capabilities, Woori Financial Group confirmed its commitment to elevating the competitiveness of each affiliate’s core operations and strategically expanding their market presence. This focused approach is designed to diversify the group’s earnings streams and reduce its reliance on traditional banking income.

Furthermore, Woori identified AI transformation as a top strategic priority. The group intends to integrate AI across diverse functions, including operational efficiencies, sales support, robust risk management, and internal controls. Alongside this, Woori is dedicated to fortifying AI-based cybersecurity measures and consumer protection frameworks.

Reporting strong performance, Woori announced it achieved 82.5 percent of its annual productive finance target, totaling 21.8 trillion won ($14.7 billion), within the first half of the year, primarily driven by solid corporate lending. Reflecting this substantial progress, the group raised the target for its “Future Shared Growth Project,” which champions productive and inclusive finance, from 80 trillion won to an impressive 90 trillion won, aiming to significantly expand support for the real economy.
