KB Financial Group Chairman Yang Jong-hee has called for a fundamental overhaul of the group’s operations, advocating for a strategic pivot towards artificial intelligence (AI). He emphasized seizing evolving financial market trends as a prime opportunity to significantly bolster the group’s wealth and asset management businesses.
These pivotal remarks were delivered during a comprehensive two-day executive workshop, convened last Friday and Saturday at the KB Injaenium training center in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province. Approximately 270 senior executives participated, engaging in robust discussions centered on defining KB Financial Group’s strategic growth roadmap for the upcoming three years.
Emphasizing the core mission, Chairman Yang stated, “The essence of a financial group lies in delivering comprehensive, client-centric solutions.”
He further asserted, “The dynamic movement of funds should not be perceived as a risk, but rather a significant opportunity to fortify our competitiveness across both wealth management and asset management sectors.” Chairman Yang unequivocally added, “We are imperative to thoroughly review our current operating processes and fundamentally redesign them with artificial intelligence at their core.”
The core agenda of the workshop was KB Financial Group’s ambitious long-term management strategy for the next three years, structured around five key strategic priorities. These include: fundamentally reshaping its wealth management and pension businesses; significantly strengthening competitiveness within the vital small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) market; fostering expanded collaboration across corporate and investment banking (CIB) and capital markets divisions; systematically enhancing insurance and comprehensive asset management capabilities; and meticulously establishing a clear roadmap for AI transformation.
Furthermore, participating executives critically analyzed significant structural shifts currently reshaping the global financial industry. These transformative trends encompass the substantial expansion of capital markets, the accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), dynamic shifts within the digital finance landscape, and an increasing emphasis on productive finance initiatives. A crucial outcome of these extensive discussions was a renewed commitment to strengthening inter-subsidiary collaboration across all of KB Financial Group’s diverse entities.
