Namyang Dairy Products, a prominent Korean food company, announced Friday a significant strategic partnership with Maximus Distribution LLC, Mongolia’s leading food distributor. This landmark three-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) is valued at 10 billion won (approximately $6.6 million) and aims to substantially expand the export of premium K-food products into the growing Mongolian market.
The signing ceremony took place during the prestigious Korea-Mongolia Business Forum, a key official event organized by the government-led economic delegation. This new collaboration signifies Namyang’s second major export deal secured this year through a government economic mission, following a substantial three-year, 70 billion won export agreement inked in Vietnam this April. These initiatives highlight Namyang’s aggressive global expansion strategy for K-food.
Established in 1999, Maximus Distribution boasts an unparalleled nationwide distribution network, reaching over 13,000 diverse retail outlets throughout Mongolia. Their extensive channels encompass major supermarket chains like Nomin and Orgil, popular convenience stores such as CU and GS25, alongside traditional markets and local neighborhood grocery stores, ensuring comprehensive market penetration for Namyang products.
This latest partnership significantly broadens the scope of cooperation between the two companies. Moving beyond the existing success of French Cafe instant coffee, the agreement will introduce a wider selection of Namyang’s high-quality dairy products to Mongolia, with a strong focus on its premium Korean raw milk-based infant formula – a product renowned for its nutritional value.
Namyang Dairy attributes its robust overseas expansion and growing global presence to a concerted effort to strengthen corporate governance and elevate its core business competitiveness. Key internal strategies include the implementation of a professional management system, rigorous enhancement of compliance practices, and a profitability-focused business restructuring, all contributing to its international success.
Demonstrating its commitment to the Mongolian market, Namyang successfully expanded its product presence last year by introducing its popular Take Fit Monster protein drink to major supermarkets. This was further bolstered by the product’s launch in CU convenience stores this past January, indicating positive market reception.
Namyang anticipates that Maximus Distribution’s state-of-the-art logistics infrastructure and advanced cold-chain system will be instrumental in ensuring the broad, efficient distribution and pristine quality of its dairy products across Mongolia.
Commenting on the new venture, Kim Seung-eon, CEO of Namyang Dairy, stated, “Following our successful venture in Vietnam, we are immensely pleased to establish another pivotal strategic partnership in Mongolia, facilitated by the government’s economic delegation.” He added, “Leveraging the unparalleled competitiveness of our Korean raw milk-based infant formula, we are committed to expanding cooperation across our entire dairy product portfolio, thereby significantly strengthening the global competitiveness and appeal of K-food.”
