Hanwha Qcells, a prominent energy subsidiary of Hanwha Solutions, announced its strategic move to oversee the engineering and construction of one of the United States’ largest renewable energy complexes. This significant expansion underscores Qcells’ accelerated growth in the dynamic US energy market.
The company confirmed it would be responsible for the full scope of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services across all projects within the expansive Atlas Energy Park, located in La Paz County, Arizona.
The Atlas Energy Park is designed to be a monumental renewable energy complex, integrating 14 distinct solar and energy storage projects. Spanning an impressive 63.66 square kilometers – an area approximately 22 times the size of Seoul’s Yeouido district – Qcells has heralded it as the largest renewable energy complex ever built in the US.
By 2028, this state-of-the-art energy complex is projected to achieve a substantial 2.8 gigawatts (GW) of solar power capacity and 5.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage capacity. Hanwha Qcells will also leverage its comprehensive manufacturing capabilities by supplying all the high-efficiency solar modules required for these projects.
This ambitious project signifies Qcells’ strategic evolution from a leading solar panel manufacturer into a fully integrated energy company. This transformation encompasses developing, constructing, and ultimately selling sophisticated renewable energy infrastructure solutions.
Demonstrating its robust capabilities, Qcells successfully completed the sale of two solar power plants within the Atlas Energy Park in May, boasting a combined capacity of 357 megawatts (MW). Having managed these projects from their initial development stages through the entire EPC process, these transactions emphatically showcased Qcells’ expertise in large-scale project development and seamless execution.

Qcells has been aggressively expanding its solar and energy storage business throughout the US. This growth is strongly supported by its established domestic manufacturing base and an expanding network of strategic project partners.
The company proudly operates Solar Hub, an integrated solar manufacturing complex located in Georgia, which ensures a stable and localized supply of solar modules. Furthermore, Qcells has cultivated a reliable US-based procurement network for essential energy storage equipment.
Recently, Qcells secured a significant contract with renewable energy developer Zelestra Energy. This agreement involves supplying cutting-edge solar modules and providing crucial EPC services for a project dedicated to delivering clean, renewable electricity to Meta.
In another strategic partnership, the company has signed an agreement with LG Energy Solution for the supply of 4.8 GWh of advanced energy storage batteries. These batteries are slated for installation at the Atlas Energy Park by October, further enhancing the complex’s storage capabilities.
