Samsung Electronics Co. emerged as the top generator of economic value among South Korea’s 100 largest companies in 2025, according to comprehensive industry data released Wednesday.
The tech giant’s total economic contribution soared to an impressive 177.25 trillion won ($116.67 billion) last year, marking a robust 12.5 percent increase from the previous year. This significant growth was highlighted in data compiled by CEO Score, a respected industry tracker.
This crucial figure meticulously measures a company’s overarching economic impact, encompassing contributions through payments made to employees, suppliers, shareholders, creditors, various governmental entities, and the broader society. The analysis is rigorously based on official business reports submitted by the nation’s 100 largest non-financial, privately owned companies, ranked by sales volume.
Samsung Electronics remarkably surpassed its competitors by a substantial margin. Hyundai Motor Group secured the second position, reporting total economic contributions of 122.24 trillion won, underscoring Samsung’s dominant financial performance.
Beyond its extensive economic footprint, Samsung Electronics also led the pack in shareholder returns, demonstrating a strong commitment to its investors.
Last year, the company distributed a combined 14.16 trillion won to its shareholders. This substantial return comprised 11.11 trillion won in dividends, complemented by 3.05 trillion won in share cancellations, as detailed by the comprehensive industry data.
