Sources indicate the iconic K-pop group is preparing approximately three new songs ahead of their much-anticipated first world tour in nine years.
K-pop legends Big Bang are reportedly gearing up for a significant comeback in August, coinciding with their 20th-anniversary celebration. Industry sources revealed on Wednesday that the group is expected to release a physical single featuring an estimated two to three brand new tracks.
While Big Bang has previously hinted at releasing new music and embarking on a world tour this year, sources privy to the plans informed The Korea Herald that a single release is currently deemed more probable than a full-length album.
“Big Bang will likely unveil new songs in a single format, comprising around three tracks,” an anonymous source stated. The source cautioned, however, that these plans are still fluid and could change based on the artists’ schedules and evolving circumstances.
Echoing this sentiment, another industry insider suggested that a physical single is a more realistic endeavor than an LP, especially considering the group’s current timeline.
The insider elaborated, “Big Bang captivated audiences at Coachella in April, and member Taeyang followed up by releasing his fourth solo full-length album the subsequent month. With their global world tour slated to kick off in August, the window for completing a larger project is notably limited.”
YG Entertainment, the revered K-pop agency representing Big Bang, chose not to comment on the reports. Separately, Galaxy Corp., which manages G-Dragon’s individual activities, stated they were not aware of any specific details regarding an upcoming new release.
Should these plans materialize, this project would mark Big Bang’s first new music offering since their acclaimed track “Still Life,” released in April 2022.
The anticipated release date is expected to align with the group’s significant debut anniversary on August 19. G-Dragon subtly hinted at this possibility during a guest appearance via phone call on Epik High’s popular YouTube show “Epikase,” featuring fellow member Taeyang, on May 14.
During that broadcast, Taeyang unequivocally confirmed that Big Bang was actively working on a new album and emphasized the urgent need for the songs to be completed promptly.
