Ahead of the revered National Veterans’ Month, HD Hyundai demonstrated its profound respect for national heroes and war veterans. HD Hyundai Chair Chung Ki-sun, alongside HD Construction Equipment CEO Moon Jae-young and 200 dedicated employees, paid solemn tribute at the Seoul National Cemetery, Yeongcheon National Cemetery, and Geosan National Cemetery this past Friday.
At the Seoul National Cemetery, Chair Chung Ki-sun personally laid flowers and offered incense at the hallowed memorial tower. Further emphasizing HD Hyundai’s commitment, he proceeded to Section 25, an area dedicated to an HD Hyundai volunteer initiative, where he meticulously cleaned tombstones and cleared weeds, honoring those laid to rest.
The same day marked a significant collaboration as HD Construction Equipment formalized a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. Signed at the Seoul National Cemetery, this pivotal agreement aims to construct a dedicated memorial facility honoring UN veterans. The signing ceremony saw Minister Kwon Oh-eul and CEO Moon Jae-young as key signatories, with Ethiopian Ambassador to South Korea, Dessie Dalkie Dukamo, and Chairman Chung in attendance, underscoring the global significance of the initiative.
Under this impactful agreement, HD Construction Equipment pledges to supply essential equipment for the construction of multiple memorial facilities. Notably, one such facility will be established in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – a nation uniquely distinguished as the sole African country to dispatch ground forces in support of the Korean War effort.
These efforts are a testament to HD Hyundai’s ongoing, comprehensive support for war veterans and individuals of national merit across its diverse affiliates. Specifically, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries actively support the children of fallen navy troops and families experiencing financial hardship. Concurrently, the HD Hyundai 1% Nanum Foundation diligently extends financial aid and essential daily necessities to the descendants of these revered national heroes.
Further solidifying its commitment, HD Construction Equipment collaborates strategically with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs on crucial house remodeling projects. These initiatives are designed to significantly enhance the living conditions for families of national merit, with ambitious plans to complete assistance for 21 households by year-end.
“It is not merely a duty, but our profound responsibility to perpetually remember the immense sacrifices made by our veterans and to ensure this legacy is thoughtfully passed on to future generations,” affirmed Chair Chung.
