In a thrilling conclusion to the Google Play AfreecaTV StarCraft League (ASL) Season 21, Park Sang-hyun successfully defended his championship title. He emerged victorious against the legendary Lee Young-ho, securing a dramatic 4-to-3 comeback win in the best-of-seven final. This monumental achievement makes Park Sang-hyun only the fourth player in ASL history to repeat as a champion, cementing his legacy in the world of StarCraft esports.

Lee Young-ho, widely known by his iconic in-game moniker “Flash,” specializes in the Terran race within StarCraft and was vying to become the first five-time ASL champion. He started the series dominantly, taking an early 2-to-0 lead. However, Park Sang-hyun showcased incredible resilience, staging a remarkable comeback to level the score at 2-to-2, turning the match into a high-stakes best-of-three series.

The tension escalated as Lee appeared on the verge of victory after clinching Game 5. Yet, in a display of sheer determination and skill, Park Sang-hyun rallied to win the final two games, ultimately becoming the last player standing and claiming the championship trophy.

“I prepared for this match with my utmost efforts,” said Park Sang-hyun, reflecting on his arduous journey. “I believed that such efforts would be rewarded, and I was able to get the win because of that.” His dedication clearly paid off on the grand stage of the ASL Season 21 finals.

The highly anticipated final match captivated a live audience of approximately 1,500 attendees. Held on a specially designed stage at the 2026 PlayX4, one of Korea’s premier gaming conventions at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, the event was a major draw. According to ASL host and streamer Soop, all 500 official seats for the match sold out within mere seconds of going on sale, highlighting the immense popularity of the StarCraft competition and its star players.

For those who wish to relive the excitement or catch up on the action, replays and detailed results of the unforgettable ASL Season 21 are readily available on Soop’s official streaming webpage dedicated to the StarCraft competition.
