South Korean President Lee Jae Myung visited the Ulsan headquarters of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., the world’s largest shipbuilder, on Wednesday, pledging robust government support for the nation’s pivotal shipbuilding industry.
During his tour, President Lee inspected state-of-the-art liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers currently under construction for export at the firm’s docks. He also received a comprehensive briefing on HD Hyundai’s significant order intake and the prevailing conditions within the global shipbuilding market, according to vice presidential spokesperson Ahn Gwi-ryeong.
President Lee highly praised the unwavering dedication and exceptional expertise of the shipbuilding workers. He attributed the “world’s highest-level competitiveness” of South Korea’s shipbuilding industry directly to their skill and hard work, emphasizing the country’s leading position in the global maritime manufacturing sector.
