Korean Air has proudly unveiled a magnificent donated Boeing 747 aircraft exhibit at the California Science Center’s esteemed Korean Air Aviation Gallery. This significant addition, announced by the airline on Wednesday, marks a new chapter in aviation education in Los Angeles.

The impressive aircraft, a Boeing 747-400 passenger jet, stands at a towering 19.4 meters. This iconic “Queen of the Skies” served Korean Air faithfully from 1994 to 2014, accumulating an extraordinary record of over 86,000 flight hours before its well-deserved retirement.

According to Korean Air, this particular Boeing 747 beautifully symbolizes the carrier’s remarkable journey and ascendancy to become a leading global airline, especially during a period of rapid expansion in commercial air travel worldwide.

In an exciting collaborative effort, Korean Air and the California Science Center are transforming this historic aircraft into an innovative, interactive aviation and science exhibition space. Visitors will soon be able to explore its passenger cabins, cargo section, and even the intricate landing gear systems up close.

Designed to captivate and educate, the exhibit will allow visitors to step inside the aircraft and engage in dynamic, hands-on educational programs. These aviation-themed experiences are specifically tailored to inspire curiosity among children and families, offering a unique learning adventure.

Walter Cho, Chairman and CEO of Korean Air, highlighted the airline’s deep connection to the city, stating that Los Angeles has been a cherished second home for Korean Air for over half a century.

“We are immensely proud to support the California Science Center,” Cho remarked. “The Korean Air Aviation Gallery’s mission is to inspire future generations by vividly showcasing the incredible science and boundless imagination behind flight, actively encouraging young people to envision themselves as future pilots, engineers, and innovators in the aviation industry.”

Jeffrey Rudolph, CEO of the California Science Center, emphasized that this unique partnership will be instrumental in creating an unparalleled educational facility. It aims to ignite a passion for discovery among children and future scientists, engineers, and explorers across the globe.

“We extend our deepest gratitude for Korean Air’s generous support and invaluable cooperation in bringing forth a truly world-class science learning experience,” Rudolph concluded.
