HanmiGlobal announced a significant strategic alliance with AtkinsRealis on Monday, aimed at collaboratively pursuing large-scale industrial plant, renewable energy, and nuclear power projects across the United States.
AtkinsRealis stands as a global leader in engineering and nuclear energy, boasting a workforce of over 40,000 professionals operating in more than 50 countries worldwide. Its extensive U.S. footprint includes over 90 offices across 32 states, delivering expertise in diverse sectors such as airports, road infrastructure, nuclear power generation, and industrial facilities.
Notable among its significant U.S. project portfolio are critical maintenance services at San Francisco International Airport, a pioneering small modular reactor (SMR) initiative for Energy Northwest, and the innovative Miami-Dade waste-to-energy plant development.
HanmiGlobal has strategically broadened its U.S. market presence, successfully delivering construction management services for leading Korean companies within high-growth sectors like semiconductors, batteries, and subsea cables. A pivotal move, the 2011 acquisition of U.S.-based design and engineering firm Otak, significantly bolstered its localized network and enhanced its core engineering capabilities.
This comprehensive agreement outlines a collaborative framework where both companies will synergize their strengths across the entire project lifecycle. This encompasses everything from initial project identification and strategic proposals to securing orders and meticulous execution.
The scope of this strategic partnership extends to critical areas including robust project management, advanced design and engineering solutions, expert permitting consulting, and thorough environmental impact assessments. To deliver seamless, integrated construction engineering services, the firms will strategically define lead and participating roles, adapting their collaboration on a project-by-project basis.
Initially, the collaboration will prioritize high-value, large-scale energy and manufacturing projects across the U.S. This includes key facilities spearheaded by Korean enterprises, alongside significant nuclear and renewable energy sector developments.
To foster ongoing collaboration and maximize their joint potential, both firms are committed to establishing a dedicated working-level consultative body. This body will be instrumental in developing tailored project-specific cooperation strategies and proactively identifying lucrative new business opportunities within the dynamic U.S. market.
Commenting on the alliance’s potential, Kim Yong-sik, Head of Operations at HanmiGlobal, stated, “We anticipate this cooperation with a renowned global project management company will generate significantly more opportunities to secure and successfully deliver projects across the expansive U.S. market.”
