Hyundai Rotem proudly announced Wednesday the successful commencement of commercial operations for its advanced high-speed trains within Uzbekistan’s rapidly developing rail network.

These newly manufactured high-speed trainsets began service on Tuesday, traversing Uzbekistan’s longest and strategically vital rail routes. The 1,020-kilometer journey connects the bustling capital, Tashkent, with the historic Silk Road city of Khiva, a destination experiencing growing popularity among global tourists.

Modeled after Korea’s acclaimed **KTX-Eum (EMU-260) electric multiple unit**, these high-speed trainsets bring proven advanced technology and superior safety standards to Uzbekistan. Capable of reaching a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour, they deliver significantly enhanced operational efficiency, marking a substantial upgrade from Uzbekistan’s existing push-pull high-speed rail fleet.

Specifically engineered to thrive in Uzbekistan’s challenging extreme heat and arid desert environments, these trains guarantee a safe and exceptionally pleasant travel experience, even across vast distances. Each modern trainset boasts a capacity of up to 389 passengers, offering diverse seating options across economy, business, and exclusive VIP classes for optimal comfort.

This significant deployment is set to revolutionize Uzbekistan’s transportation infrastructure. Notably, travel time from Tashkent to Khiva will be dramatically reduced by half, now taking just 7 hours. This successful export of advanced Korean high-speed rail technology stands as a testament to years of strategic cooperation between Korea’s public and private sectors, signaling a promising future for **K-railway** exports.

The **Uzbekistan high-speed train project** underscores the robust capabilities of Korea’s rail industry, involving over 600 domestic high-speed train component partners. This extensive collaboration proudly showcases their stable and reliable partnership system with Hyundai Rotem to the international market.

**Hyundai Rotem** formalized this landmark initiative by signing a pivotal supply agreement with Uzbekistan’s national railway company, UTY, in 2024. This agreement cemented its position as the pioneer in deploying Korean-made high-speed trains on international routes, a significant milestone for the **K-railway** industry.

“We are fully committed to continuing our robust efforts in the **Uzbekistan high-speed train project**,” stated a Hyundai Rotem official. “Our goal is to expand our export footprint, thereby establishing a strong foundation for collaborative growth within the global **K-railway industry**.”
