During their meeting in Seoul, South Korean Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo engaged with Qatari counterpart Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed. Their discussions primarily focused on forging new avenues to expand robust economic and investment cooperation between the two dynamic nations, as reported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.

Both ministers mutually agreed to significantly bolster bilateral cooperation in these advanced sectors. This strategic collaboration will leverage South Korea’s established manufacturing capabilities alongside Qatar’s substantial capital and its firm commitment to ambitious industrial diversification initiatives.

Specifically, the high-level talks explored potential collaboration in the cutting-edge manufacturing AI and robotics sectors. This aligns perfectly with Korea’s ambitious push for its Manufacturing AI Transformation (M.AX) initiative, aiming to revolutionize industrial processes.

Minister Yeo further emphasized the growing presence of Korean biopharmaceutical firms expanding into the Qatari market. He also underscored the significant potential of Korea’s innovative AI chip fabless companies, advocating for robust investment collaboration in these crucial technological domains.

Furthermore, Minister Yeo praised Qatar’s remarkable resilience amidst the current Middle East regional challenges. He reaffirmed Seoul’s unwavering commitment to fostering strong energy cooperation with the Gulf nation, reinforcing a vital strategic partnership.
