Hyundai Elevator has achieved a global first, successfully installing and commercializing an advanced modular elevator system specifically designed for high-rise buildings. This groundbreaking innovation marks a significant leap in construction technology.

On Sunday, the company proudly announced the official launch of its proprietary modular construction system, ENOBLOC, an acronym for Elevator Innovate Block Construction. Hyundai Elevator recently completed a rigorous quality control inspection for its ENOBLOC application in a 27-story structure at the Songdo Hillstate Centerpark construction site. This achievement positions them as the first globally to commercialize a sophisticated modular elevator system suitable for buildings exceeding 20 stories.

“ENOBLOC represents a transformative system that dramatically mitigates high-risk elements, substantially boosts operational efficiency, and significantly reduces environmental impact. We believe it will fundamentally reshape the future of construction and development,” stated Cho Jae-cheon, CEO of Hyundai Elevator.

The ENOBLOC system revolutionizes elevator installation by manufacturing key components in a controlled factory environment, which are then efficiently assembled on-site. Hyundai highlights the system’s innovative “mobile assembly station,” meticulously tailored for high-rise construction, effectively minimizing spatial constraints typically encountered on busy building sites.

Functioning as a compact, on-site mini-factory, the system occupies less than 33 square meters of the construction area. It efficiently transports components in pre-assembled plane units, facilitating a highly compact and streamlined construction process.

A paramount benefit of ENOBLOC is its significantly enhanced safety profile. Traditional elevator construction often involves inherently high-risk procedures. ENOBLOC eradicates these hazards by pre-fabricating an impressive 90 percent of critical components within controlled factory settings. This strategic approach allows on-site field operations to concentrate solely on the final, safer assembly stages, as confirmed by the company.

Furthermore, ENOBLOC dramatically reduces elevator installation time by up to 80 percent. This accelerated process not only streamlines overall construction timelines but also leads to substantial reductions in construction costs and enables earlier building occupancy and move-ins.

Hyundai added that even with partial implementation at the Songdo Hillstate Centerpark, ENOBLOC successfully shortened the construction period by 40 days. Upon full-scale deployment, the system is projected to reduce overall construction time by more than two months, demonstrating its profound impact on project efficiency.

Hyundai Elevator has proactively secured approximately 50 patents pertaining to its innovative modular system, high-rise building applications, and advanced mass-production technologies. The company is poised to lead global market dominance for what it proudly terms “K-elevators,” with plans to secure additional technology patents across key markets including the US and the Middle East, complementing its existing protections in Korea.
