LG Electronics announced Monday its selection of 22 distinguished employees as research and specialist fellows for 2026, a move underscoring the company’s commitment to recognizing elite technical expertise across its core business sectors.
This year’s cohort welcomes 15 new research fellows and seven specialist fellows, bringing LG’s total number of esteemed fellows to 222. This expansion reinforces LG’s dedication to fostering innovation and retaining top talent.
Established in 2009, LG’s prestigious fellowship program serves as a strategic initiative to cultivate top-tier talent in critical areas such as research and development (R&D), manufacturing, quality assurance, and product design. The program also provides a specialized career path for highly skilled technical experts, empowering them to drive future innovations within LG Electronics.
Research fellows are primarily chosen from R&D divisions, tasked with pioneering future technologies and pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery. In contrast, specialist fellows, hailing from diverse professional tracks, are instrumental in leading crucial companywide initiatives. Both groups benefit from enhanced autonomy in their roles and a differentiated compensation structure, reflecting their invaluable contributions.
The selections for 2026 strategically align with LG’s ambitious growth targets, with a particular focus on advancing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and next-generation mobility solutions. These key areas are vital for LG’s competitive edge in the evolving global market.
Notable among the new research fellows is Kim Jung-seop from the CTO division, recognized for his groundbreaking leadership in developing innovative cooling solutions essential for AI data centers. Kim Dong-wook, from the Vehicle Solution division, was lauded for his exceptional work on advanced optical technologies, including the creation of ultra-light head-up displays capable of adjusting focus dynamically based on the driver’s gaze. Additionally, Park Noma of the Eco Solution division earned recognition for his significant contributions to AI-based active control systems, leveraging cutting-edge digital twin technology.
The specialist fellows were meticulously selected from various departments, including patents, product planning, industrial design, and quality management, based on their demonstrated exceptional expertise and impactful performance.
Candidates for this esteemed fellowship undergo a highly rigorous selection process, ensuring that only around the top 1 percent of employees in each respective field are ultimately chosen, highlighting the exceptional caliber of LG’s technical and professional experts.
