Coupang, South Korea’s leading e-commerce giant, reaffirms its unwavering commitment to local economic growth as interim CEO Harold Rogers visited small and midsize suppliers in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, on Wednesday. During his visit, Rogers pledged vital support for these manufacturers, who are currently navigating significant challenges posed by escalating energy costs and fluctuating currency markets.
Engaging directly with regional business leaders at a key grain-processing facility, CEO Rogers gained critical insights into their pressing concerns regarding soaring input costs and the imperative for robust supply chain stability. In response, Coupang announced several strategic initiatives: a dedicated executive hotline to significantly streamline supplier communications, exploration of ambitious overseas market expansion opportunities including direct exports to Taiwan, pioneering new business-to-business (B2B) sales solutions, and fostering collaborative joint product development programs to drive innovation.
Rogers underscored the critical role of these small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) as the indispensable cornerstone of the regional economy. He articulated Coupang’s firm belief that the e-commerce platform’s own sustained growth is inextricably linked to the prosperity and expansion of its invaluable local supplier network.
