LG Innotek announced a strategic partnership with Applied Intuition, a leading global company specializing in physical AI and autonomous vehicle software, to jointly develop advanced mobility and robotics technologies. The collaboration aims to accelerate innovation in next-generation solutions for the automotive and robotics industries.

As part of the agreement, LG Innotek will integrate its advanced camera-based sensing modules into Applied Intuition’s autonomous driving reference vehicles. These vehicles will undergo extensive testing across diverse environments in the United States, Europe, and Japan. The large-scale, multi-regional testing will generate valuable performance data, enabling LG Innotek to further optimize its sensing systems for various real-world conditions and improve autonomous driving capabilities.

Applied Intuition will incorporate LG Innotek’s state-of-the-art sensing modules into its simulation environment, enhancing the accuracy and realism of its virtual testing platform. Simultaneously, LG Innotek will embed its proprietary virtual sensor technology into Applied Intuition’s software platform. These virtual sensors replicate real-world hardware in digital environments, allowing companies to effectively validate autonomous driving systems under realistic conditions without relying solely on costly and time-consuming on-road testing.

This synergistic collaboration is designed to streamline the development process by seamlessly integrating cutting-edge sensors with advanced autonomy software. By reducing validation time and costs, the partnership aims to accelerate the commercialization of innovative autonomous driving and robotics solutions.

“Integrating virtual sensors early in the development phase significantly increases the likelihood of our components being adopted in mass production for autonomous vehicles and robotics applications,” stated an LG Innotek official.

Looking beyond automotive applications, the two companies plan to expand their partnership into the rapidly growing markets for drones and robotics, targeting broader opportunities in the emerging physical AI landscape. This expansion demonstrates their commitment to leading the way in advanced technology solutions.

“By working with LG Innotek, we’re simplifying the process of transitioning autonomy systems from development to production,” said Qasar Younis, CEO of Applied Intuition.

LG Innotek President Moon Hyuk-soo emphasized that this strategic partnership will help the company “achieve global top-tier status in mobility and robotics sensing solutions” as the physical AI era gains momentum, driving innovation and shaping the future of autonomous systems.
