Seoul is buzzing with excitement as a major concert is set to take place this Saturday, driving a significant surge in accommodation bookings by international visitors. Data released on Friday reveals a remarkable 103 percent increase in bookings this week compared to the previous week.

According to data analysis from AllMyTour, an AI-powered bed bank solution provider, the influx of overseas travelers has also resulted in a 63.3 percent increase in bookings compared to the same period last year. The overall figure for March shows a healthy 33.5 percent year-on-year growth.

The data indicates that the demand is heavily concentrated around the concert venue. A substantial 41.8 percent of accommodation bookings this week are for properties located in the Myeong-dong, City Hall, Jongno, and Dongdaemun areas, all in close proximity to the event.

Breaking down the figures by nationality, travelers from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan represent the largest segment at 41 percent. Visitors from the Americas and Europe account for 29.2 percent, while Southeast Asia contributes 26.2 percent, highlighting the global appeal of the event.

AllMyTour also noted that within 48 hours of the concert announcement, searches for trips to Seoul on international search engines jumped by an impressive 155 percent compared to previous weeks.

The Korea Culture and Tourism Institute estimates that a single large-scale concert in Korea can generate approximately 1.2 trillion won ($800 million) in economic impact.

“Content from Korea is a significant factor in converting international interest into tangible demand for travel to Korea,” stated Kim Min-young, sales strategy unit lead at AllMyTour.

“We believe that diverse cultural experiences, such as concerts and visits to filming locations, stimulate accommodation bookings and overall spending. We are committed to fostering growth in the inbound tourism market by offering a range of products linked to popular content from Korea.”
