NCSoft, a leading South Korean game developer and publisher, announced Tuesday its plan to acquire a 70% stake in JustPlay GmbH, a German mobile game company, for 301.6 billion won ($204.8 million). This strategic investment aims to bolster NCSoft’s presence in the mobile casual gaming market.
The acquisition is anticipated to be finalized by April 30th, making JustPlay a subsidiary of NCSoft, according to a regulatory filing.
Based in Berlin, JustPlay operates a unique reward-based platform for mobile games, featuring a selection of engaging casual titles developed in-house.
NCSoft stated that this acquisition will secure a vital platform within the mobile gaming ecosystem, enabling further expansion into the casual gaming sector.
NCSoft, renowned for its massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) like Lineage and Guild Wars, is actively diversifying its portfolio by investing in casual games as a significant avenue for growth.
