Samsung SDI announced its participation in InterBattery 2026, South Korea’s premier battery industry event, where it will showcase its advanced high-power battery products and cutting-edge technologies tailored for the artificial intelligence (AI) era.
Under the theme “AI thinks, Battery enables,” the battery manufacturer will present its latest innovations at the exhibition, scheduled for March 11-13 at Coex in Seoul.
A primary highlight of Samsung SDI’s exhibit will be its ultra-high-power battery solutions designed for data centers, a critical infrastructure component supporting the demands of artificial intelligence.
The company intends to feature its uninterruptible power supply (UPS), the U8A1, which utilizes a prismatic form factor incorporating lithium manganese oxide for exceptional output and enhanced safety.
Furthermore, Samsung SDI will unveil a new Battery Backup Unit (BBU) solution, incorporating state-of-the-art design technology and high-power, high-capacity cylindrical cells. This BBU directly connects to servers, providing instantaneous response to power demand spikes and ensuring data preservation during power interruptions.
Samsung SDI will also showcase its comprehensive range of Samsung Battery Box products, representing an integrated battery solution for energy storage systems (ESS).
“The AI industry, with its reliance on high-performance servers operating continuously, demands significant power resources and robust, environmentally sound energy management strategies,” stated a Samsung SDI representative.
“Energy Storage Systems (ESS) will play a vital role as essential power infrastructure, offering immediate backup support during critical events such as power outages.”
In addition to current technology, the company will provide insight into its progress in developing All-Solid-State Battery technology and related potential applications. Samsung SDI aims to begin mass production of solid-state batteries in the latter half of next year, with plans for deployment in humanoid and industrial robots.
