SK Innovation E&S is fostering innovation in Indonesia’s energy and environment sectors. The company recently hosted the “Maju On Networking Day” in Jakarta to connect and support Indonesian startups focused on sustainable solutions.
The event, held at the South Korean Embassy in Indonesia, gathered approximately 60 participants. This included winners of the Maju On hackathon, potential investors, and key officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia (ESDM), the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises of Indonesia (UMKM), representatives from eight leading Indonesian universities, and various private-sector investors.
The “Maju On” project, launched last year, provides comprehensive support to startups throughout their business development journey. This includes assistance with idea generation, specialized training programs, networking opportunities, and crucial access to investment capital.
During the Networking Day, SK Innovation E&S announced mentors and program ambassadors for the initiative and showcased the participating startup teams. GISACT, the grand prize winner of the Maju On hackathon, presented its innovative business model. GISACT leverages artificial intelligence and satellite data to analyze land use patterns and develop effective environmental solutions for Indonesia.
SK Innovation E&S plans to select two to three promising teams for seed funding, enabling them to further commercialize their technologies. These selected teams will also have the opportunity to pitch their ventures to venture capital investors at a dedicated demo day, scheduled for May.
Looking ahead, the company aims to strengthen collaboration between South Korea and Indonesia by establishing a joint investment fund and organizing joint conferences designed for young entrepreneurs in the energy and environment fields.
“The Maju On project is strategically designed to nurture the development of Indonesia’s startup ecosystem, specifically focusing on the critical energy and environment sectors,” stated an SK Innovation E&S official. “We are committed to creating future growth opportunities by fostering strong cooperation between the governments, universities, and industries of both South Korea and Indonesia.”
