Hyundai Motor Co., Kia Corp., and BMW Korea are initiating voluntary recalls for a total of 179,880 vehicles across 51 different models. The recalls are due to manufacturing defects related to software issues, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Transport.

Specifically, Hyundai Motor will recall 36,603 units of the Porter II Electric. The recall is prompted by a software error that has the potential to negatively impact braking performance. This is a crucial safety concern that the recall aims to address.

The automaker is also implementing corrective actions for 39,148 vehicles spanning 20 models. These models include popular vehicles like the Grandeur and the Sonata. The issue stems from a software defect within the instrument cluster control system, potentially affecting the accuracy and reliability of displayed information.

Kia is also recalling 25,078 units of the Bongo III electric vehicle. This recall addresses a software problem that could lead to reduced braking performance, mirroring the concerns with the Hyundai Porter II Electric. Furthermore, 69,137 Kia vehicles across 16 other models will be subject to recall starting Tuesday, addressing a similar software-related issue.
