Hanwha Aerospace announced record-breaking revenue and profits for the past year, largely attributed to significant growth in land defense systems sales.
According to the company’s earnings report released on Monday, annual revenue reached 26.61 trillion won ($18.2 billion) and operating profit totaled 3.03 trillion won in 2025. These figures represent increases of 137 percent and 75 percent, respectively, compared to the previous year. This achievement marks Hanwha Aerospace’s third consecutive year of record-high performance.
The company’s strong financial results were primarily driven by a surge in ground weapons sales, generating 8.13 trillion won in revenue, almost doubling in the last two years. Operating profit for this segment reached 2.01 trillion won, exceeding the 2 trillion won milestone for the first time.
Notable export successes included the delivery of K9 self-propelled howitzers to Norway and Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers to Estonia. Domestically, Hanwha Aerospace secured major mass production contracts, including the long-range surface-to-air missile system and the Cheongum air-to-ground guided missile for light attack helicopters. By the end of 2025, the total order backlog in the land defense business amounted to approximately 37.2 trillion won.
The aerospace business also contributed to the positive results, returning to profitability with an operating profit of 23 billion won. This improvement was driven by a substantial increase in defense-related orders and ongoing efforts to enhance productivity. Revenue in the aerospace sector reached 2.51 trillion won, marking three consecutive years of growth.
Hanwha Ocean, which became a subsidiary of Hanwha Aerospace last year to create stronger synergies across land, sea, and air defense platforms, was fully integrated into the group’s earnings for the first time during this period. The company reported revenue of 12.69 trillion won and an operating profit of 1.11 trillion won.
A representative from Hanwha Aerospace stated, “2025 is a landmark year as the company transforms into an integrated defense and shipbuilding group with the complete consolidation of Hanwha Ocean.” They further added that the company aims to achieve sustainable growth this year by leveraging its diverse product portfolio to expand its global presence, while simultaneously contributing to South Korea’s national security.
