Samsung Electronics has announced unprecedented quarterly earnings, significantly surpassing market predictions, fueled by the explosive global demand for advanced AI memory chips. This landmark achievement underscores the company’s strong position in the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence sector.
According to its latest regulatory filing on Tuesday, the tech giant reported a preliminary operating profit of 57.2 trillion won ($42.5 billion), alongside a massive revenue of 133 trillion won. These figures highlight a remarkable period of financial success for Samsung Electronics.
The operating profit represents an astounding 755 percent surge from 6.69 trillion won recorded in the same period last year. Concurrently, revenue saw a substantial 68.1 percent increase from 79.14 trillion won, demonstrating robust growth across its operations.
These stellar results not only broke previous expectations but also eclipsed the company’s prior record from the fourth quarter of last year, which saw 93.8 trillion won in revenue and 20.1 trillion won in operating profit. Samsung is clearly setting new financial benchmarks.
Marking a significant milestone, quarterly revenue surpassed the 100 trillion won threshold for the first time ever. Furthermore, the operating profit for this single period impressively exceeded Samsung’s entire full-year earnings of 43.6 trillion won reported in 2025, underscoring the exceptional performance.
These outstanding figures significantly outpaced heightened market expectations, which had been revised upwards to approximately 120 trillion won for revenue and 50 trillion won for operating profit. This truly stands as one of Samsung’s most remarkable earnings surprises in its history.
Although Samsung has not yet provided detailed divisional breakdowns, industry analysts widely attribute this robust performance to its dominant semiconductor business, particularly within the memory chip sector. Intense demand and tight supply across various end markets have propelled memory prices upwards by double-digit percentages.
Leading brokerages estimate that the operating profit specifically from the crucial chip division could fall within a substantial range of 37 trillion won to 48 trillion won, highlighting its central role in the company’s profitability.
Samsung continues to solidify its leadership in high-end memory solutions by significantly expanding shipments of advanced products like its fifth-generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM3E). These cutting-edge memory chips are being supplied to major global technology innovators, including Nvidia, Google, and AMD, powering next-generation AI infrastructure.
Looking ahead, the company has also initiated the mass production of its next-generation HBM4 chips this year. These highly anticipated HBM4 modules are slated for integration into Nvidia’s forthcoming AI accelerator platform, Vera Rubin, further cementing Samsung’s strategic importance in the evolving AI landscape.
