K-pop Supergroup BTS Makes History with “Arirang” Dominating Music Charts for Second Week
K-pop sensation BTS continues to shatter records as their fifth studio album, “Arirang,” proudly holds the No. 1 spot on the prestigious music charts for an unprecedented second consecutive week. This monumental achievement places “Arirang” ahead of highly anticipated releases like “Bully” by Ye and Melanie Martinez’s “Hades,” solidifying BTS’s unparalleled global impact.
This marks a historic first for any K-pop act, as BTS becomes the only group from Korea to lead the chart for two weeks in a row. Previously, the original soundtrack for the animated film “KPop Demon Hunters” had reached the top spot on a non-consecutive basis, underscoring the significance of BTS’s sustained dominance.
“Arirang” has quickly become a landmark release, following a string of seven consecutive No. 1 debuts for the supergroup. Their impressive catalog includes chart-toppers such as “Love Yourself: Tear,” “Love Yourself: Answer,” “Map of the Soul: Persona,” “Map of the Soul: 7,” “Be,” and the acclaimed anthology album “Proof.” Further amplifying their success, “Swim,” the lead track from “Arirang,” also debuted at No. 1 on the highly competitive Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the same week.
Released on March 20, the 14-track album is a profound exploration of BTS’s unique identity, deeply rooted in their Korean heritage, and delves into the universal emotions and experiences encountered by its members throughout their remarkable journey.
