Samsung Display announced on Thursday that CEO Yi Chung has been elected a Fellow of the Society for Information Display (SID), the premier global organization for the display industry.
The SID Fellowship is awarded annually to members who have made significant research and technical contributions to the field. The selection process involves peer nominations and committee evaluations, with the distinction conferred upon less than 0.1% of the total membership.
SID recognized Yi Chung’s leadership in driving OLED innovation, including his instrumental role in developing the world’s first foldable display, and his commitment to improving efficiency and sustainability within the entire display ecosystem.

He ascended to lead panel development in 2012 and was pivotal in the advancement of OLED technologies featured in Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S series, as well as the successful commercialization of flexible displays.
Furthermore, he spearheaded the development of crucial features like integrated touch displays, hole-display designs, and always-on displays with variable refresh rates, enhancing user experiences and device functionality.
