Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Chief Park Jeong-bo announced that ticket platform Nol Universe requested an investigation into suspected automated program (macro) use targeting tickets for the upcoming event at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21.
According to Park, police are currently investigating three separate cases related to potential criminal activities surrounding the ticket sales.
“Nol Universe has requested an investigation regarding suspected macro program usage,” he stated. “Offers demanding money in exchange for tickets are primarily scams.”
Police have also identified approximately 110 online postings related to proxy ticket purchases and ticket resales and have initiated measures to have these posts deleted or blocked.
In anticipation of the concert, police are planning to deploy 4,800 officers for crowd control, expecting attendance to reach around 260,000 people.
Police commandos will also be stationed in the area to conduct security operations in preparation for potential emergency situations, including possible acts of terror.
“This concerns public safety, unlike civic rallies, and deploying more police officers than necessary would be appropriate,” Park added.
