BLACKPINK is back! The global sensation releases their highly anticipated new album, led by the captivating title track “Go.” This marks the quartet’s first full-group album since their 2022 hit, “Born Pink,” which dominated the U.S. Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chart Top 100.
According to YG Entertainment, the group’s agency, this five-track album, released at 2 p.m., explores themes of confidence, growth, and unity. The album is a dynamic blend of EDM, hip-hop, and pop elements, showcasing BLACKPINK’s versatility.
“This album encapsulates ‘BLACKPINK’s greatest, unrepeatable moments’ and ‘the group’s brightest present at the peak of those moments,'” YG Entertainment stated. “Its five tracks, each distinct in style and genre, demonstrate the members’ boundless musical evolution and chart the team’s course toward even greater success.”
The lead single “Go” is characterized by its powerful sound production and an infectious chant-driven hook. The album also includes the pre-release track “Jump,” the retro hip-hop infused “Me and My,” the empowering anthem “Champion,” and “Fxxxboy,” described as a more nuanced and emotional song.
Notably, Chris Martin, the frontman of Coldplay, participated in the writing, composition, and arrangement of “Go.” BLACKPINK members Jennie, Rose, Jisoo, and Lisa are all credited as co-lyricists, with Rose also contributing to the composition.
The track quickly climbed the charts, entering local music streamer Melon’s Top 100 chart just an hour after its release.
In addition, singer-songwriter Ejae, known globally for “Golden” from the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack, contributed to the lyrics and composition of “Champion.”
Since launching album promotions on Feb. 15, BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel has experienced significant growth, gaining an average of 10,000 new subscribers daily, according to YG. The group recently celebrated a major milestone, becoming the first artist to surpass 100 million subscribers on the platform.
“Despite their demanding world tour schedule, BLACKPINK dedicated considerable time and effort to ensuring the album’s quality,” the agency emphasized. “We believe the final product effectively captures both the individual musical talents of the members and their collective synergy as a group.”
