Global sensation BLACKPINK has made history, surpassing 100 million subscribers on their YouTube channel, according to YG Entertainment. The K-pop group achieved this milestone around 7 p.m. the previous day, approximately nine years and eight months after launching their channel in June 2016. The channel boasts 648 videos.
To commemorate this achievement, YouTube presented BLACKPINK with a custom Red Diamond Creator Award.
“The dynamic female powerhouse that is BLACKPINK has earned international acclaim on YouTube with their mega-hit songs and fierce performances,” YouTube stated on its official blog.
“The group has continuously raised the bar on YouTube, pioneering new ways to connect with their fans,” they added.
BLACKPINK expressed their gratitude to their dedicated fanbase, Blinks, for their unwavering support.
“We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has always shown interest in our music and supported us with so much love. We’re especially happy that we achieved this incredible record together with Blinks,” Jennie shared on the YouTube channel.
“This milestone is especially meaningful as we are apparently the first official artist channel to reach 100 million subscribers on YouTube,” Rose added.
“Most of all, thank you Blinks, for watching, listening, and growing with us every step of the way. We wouldn’t be here without you,” Lisa stated.
In July 2020, BLACKPINK became the first non-English-language artist to break into the top five YouTube channels. They subsequently surpassed global pop icons like Ariana Grande, Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Marshmello, and Justin Bieber, claiming the No. 1 spot worldwide in September 2021 and maintaining their reign ever since.
BLACKPINK boasts nine videos in YouTube’s “Billion Views Club,” including mega-hits “Ddu-du Ddu-du” and “Kill This Love.” The group also holds three of the top 10 most-viewed music videos within 24 hours of release.
According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK has 50 videos exceeding 100 million views, with total channel views surpassing 41.1 billion. Guinness World Records recognizes BLACKPINK as the most-viewed band on YouTube.
The channel has garnered over 3.3 billion views in the past year, fueled by anticipation for their upcoming third EP, “Deadline,” scheduled for release next Friday. Since announcing the new release on January 15th, the channel has gained approximately 10,000 new subscribers daily.
“On a platform that shapes global music trends, subscriber numbers are an indicator of a loyal fandom,” YG Entertainment stated, emphasizing that BLACKPINK’s fanbase continues to expand despite their already massive global presence.
