BLACKPINK member [Artist Name]’s collaboration with Bruno Mars has been crowned the best-selling single of last year, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
In a historic first, the IFPI announced that this is the first time an artist from outside of North America or Europe has topped the Global Single Chart. The song’s success also marks the first time a winning single features non-English lyrics, demonstrating the growing global appeal of recorded music and the impact of labels in overcoming language and market obstacles.
Netflix’s animated film “KPop Demon Hunters”‘s track “Golden” secured the second spot on the chart.
The IFPI Global Single Chart ranks songs based on global consumption, factoring in both single-track downloads and streams across free and paid platforms.
