Hana Financial Group recently hosted a special customer appreciation event at its headquarters in Myeong-dong, central Seoul, commemorating the successful first anniversary of its innovative private reverse mortgage product, Hana The Next My Home Pension.

This significant milestone celebrated the product’s inaugural year in the market, extending gratitude to the valued customers who have embraced this unique program. Hana The Next My Home Pension has notably been recognized as an innovative financial service by the Financial Services Commission.

Introduced in May 2025, this pioneering product seamlessly integrates Hana Bank’s robust collateral trust service with Hana Life Insurance’s secure lifetime annuity. Distinguishing itself from traditional reverse mortgages, Hana The Next My Home Pension features a unique non-recourse structure, ensuring guaranteed lifetime pension payments to beneficiaries, even should the total disbursed amount surpass the home’s original valuation.

Demonstrating remarkable market acceptance, the product has already garnered approximately 330 billion won ($219 million) in subscriptions from over 260 customers. The average age of subscribers stands at 76, with the oldest participant being 92 years old, highlighting its appeal to senior demographics seeking stable retirement solutions.

Hana Financial Group emphasizes that this innovative offering was specifically designed to complement South Korea’s existing government-backed reverse mortgage system. It serves as a crucial private-sector alternative, empowering retirees to secure essential lifetime pension payments while retaining ownership of their valuable homes.

Further enhancing its accessibility and utility, the group expanded eligibility in April to encompass homes undergoing redevelopment or reconstruction, simultaneously introducing more flexible payout options to better meet diverse customer needs.

One satisfied customer shared their positive experience, stating, “I was able to comfortably keep my beloved home, reliably receive a lifetime pension, and importantly, still leave my remaining assets to my family. Thanks to Hana Financial Group, I can confidently plan my retirement future without concerns of becoming a burden to my children.”

Chairman Ham Young-joo reiterated Hana Financial Group’s core philosophy, remarking, “Hana Financial has consistently focused on proactively addressing financial challenges that others may have overlooked. We remain committed to our mission, continuously striving to be a trusted and indispensable financial partner that empowers our customers toward a secure retirement and a brighter, happier future.”
