Hyundai Department Store proudly announced Thursday the grand opening of its inaugural overseas flagship store, The Hyundai Global, set for Friday in the heart of Tokyo. This landmark event marks a significant milestone, positioning a leading Korean department store brand directly within one of Japan’s most prestigious shopping destinations.
The Hyundai Global represents the company’s innovative new retail platform, strategically designed to empower diverse Korean fashion, beauty, food, and entertainment brands in their expansion into dynamic overseas markets.
Spanning an impressive 620 square meters, this multi-level flagship occupies three prominent floors within Tokyu Plaza Omotesando “Omokado” in Tokyo’s fashionable Omotesando district. Adding to its allure, popular K-pop group TWS has been appointed as the store’s official ambassador, drawing global attention.
Visitors to The Hyundai Global can explore an exciting array of contemporary Korean fashion brands. Featured labels include Coyseio’s essential line, Coyseio038; the vibrant apparel brand Rolarola; the distinctive eyewear brand Double Lovers; designer bag specialist Hieta; and the highly sought-after handbag label, Stand Oil. Many of these brands have already garnered success through prior pop-up stores in Japan and Taiwan, facilitated by The Hyundai Global initiative.
Beyond fashion, the store is set to introduce several beloved Korean food and entertainment brands to the Japanese market for the very first time. This includes the popular Camel Coffee and Withmuu, a premier retailer for authentic K-pop merchandise, further enriching Japan’s cultural landscape.
Enhancing the shopping experience, two dedicated pop-up spaces, Pop-up Iconic and Pop-up Square, will host a rotating calendar of exclusive events and brand showcases. To commemorate the grand opening, “The Secret Library,” a special pop-up experience linked to actor Byeon Woo-seok’s ongoing Asia fan meeting tour, will captivate visitors at Pop-up Iconic.
“The Hyundai Global in Omotesando is poised to be a vibrant showcase, presenting both the rich present and exciting future of Korean content not only to discerning Japanese consumers but also to the broader global fashion industry,” stated a company official, highlighting the store’s international vision.
This Tokyo launch signifies a pivotal step in Hyundai Department Store’s ambitious overseas expansion strategy. The company has articulated plans to establish a network of 10 The Hyundai Global stores across key markets including Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong by the year 2030, reinforcing its commitment to global retail leadership.
