Leading South Korean fashion platform Musinsa has strategically established a new subsidiary in Taiwan, significantly expanding its regional presence and aiming to meet the surging demand for Korean fashion throughout Asia.
This new Taiwan unit, officially launched on Tuesday, places Musinsa firmly within a highly promising market characterized by robust economic growth and a rapidly increasing local appetite for distinctive Korean fashion trends.
Evidencing Taiwan’s strong potential, sales on Musinsa’s global online store originating from the region more than doubled year-over-year between 2023 and 2025. Furthermore, Taiwanese consumers were among the top three international visitor groups frequenting Musinsa’s physical stores across Korea last year, underscoring their significant engagement with the brand.
A company official emphasized that “the establishment of our Taiwan subsidiary is integral to Musinsa’s overarching strategy for cementing a more dominant presence in the dynamic global fashion market.” They added, “We are committed to leveraging our advanced data-driven platform and comprehensive omnichannel retail capabilities to substantially broaden the international appeal and accessibility of Korean fashion.”
Looking ahead, Musinsa is set to launch 15 new stores across Taiwan within the next five years, primarily featuring its popular private label, Standard. To ensure a successful market entry, a specialized Taiwan team has been meticulously studying foot traffic patterns and consumer purchasing behaviors within prominent commercial hubs.
This strategic Taiwan unit now represents Musinsa’s third international subsidiary, complementing its existing operations in Japan and China.
In the robust Chinese market, Musinsa currently operates four dedicated Standard stores and an additional multi-brand concept shop. Its most recent Standard store opened in Hangzhou this April, building on earlier successful launches in Shanghai. The company has ambitious plans to expand to over 100 stores across China by 2030, projecting annual sales to exceed 1 trillion won (approximately $660 million USD).
Japan continues to be a pivotal market for Musinsa. The brand has successfully established an online presence via a dedicated shop on the prominent Japanese fashion e-commerce platform Zozotown. Simultaneously, Musinsa is enhancing its offline footprint through a strategic partnership with the acclaimed Korean fashion label, Matin Kim.
