Naver is significantly expanding its strategic mobility partnership with Hyundai Motor Group, integrating its popular digital services directly into the automaker’s advanced next-generation infotainment system, Pleos Connect.
This groundbreaking collaboration was showcased at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show, where Hyundai unveiled the new Grandeur and the all-new Avante, both equipped with the innovative Pleos Connect system. Beginning with the new Grandeur, the companies are set to broaden their joint efforts, bringing Naver’s cutting-edge AI-powered services to Hyundai’s future connected vehicles. This initiative aims to realize the vision of software-defined vehicles, with Pleos Connect serving as a central platform.
Pleos Connect offers vehicle-optimized versions of the familiar Naver app, Naver Maps, and the Whale browser. This integration ensures drivers can seamlessly transition their search, navigation, and content experiences from their mobile devices directly into their cars.
The in-car Naver app delivers personalized information and content tailored to the driver’s schedule, interests, and current location. Its “Today Briefing” feature provides a convenient summary of the day’s weather, top news headlines, and upcoming appointments before a journey. As drivers approach a scheduled destination, the app intelligently switches to Naver Maps for intuitive navigation, simultaneously recommending nearby attractions and dining options.
Naver Maps has been meticulously optimized for in-vehicle use, allowing drivers to access crucial driving information without needing to connect their smartphones via Apple CarPlay or similar systems. By analyzing driving patterns, contextual location data, and vehicle status, the service intelligently displays personalized information on the home screen, including nearby gas stations, driving scores, and exclusive coupons for local restaurants and businesses.
Furthermore, the Whale browser enables drivers to access a wide range of web-based services and content, all specifically optimized for the automotive environment. It also features automatic light and dark modes that adjust to ambient lighting conditions, ensuring a more comfortable and visually appealing browsing experience on the go.
“Naver has historically transformed everyday digital experiences on PCs and subsequently on mobile devices through essential services like search, local information, shopping, and various content offerings,” stated CEO Choi Soo-yeon. “Alongside Hyundai Motor Group, we are committed to delivering novel experiences within the evolving mobility ecosystem as vehicles transform into sophisticated platforms that seamlessly connect users’ daily lives with their comprehensive digital experiences.”
