Shinsegae Duty Free has unveiled an innovative payment solution, NanuPay, enabling international visitors to conveniently pay for their purchases in installments using their existing overseas-issued Visa cards. This groundbreaking service, launched on Wednesday, is set to revolutionize the shopping experience for global customers in Korea’s leading duty-free stores.
Developed in a strategic partnership with the Korean fintech innovator, DealMe, the NanuPay service is now available at Shinsegae Duty Free’s bustling Myeong-dong store. This collaboration underscores the retailer’s commitment to enhancing convenience for its diverse international clientele.
NanuPay offers a seamless checkout process: customers with Visa cards issued outside Korea can now select installment payment options directly at the point of sale. This eliminates the need for downloading any additional apps or applying for new credit cards, a significant improvement over previous limitations where foreign-issued credit card transactions at Korean retailers were typically restricted to one-time payments. This streamlined approach ensures a hassle-free and flexible shopping experience.
Shinsegae Duty Free anticipates that this new service will greatly enhance the overall shopping journey for foreign visitors. These customers frequently invest in high-value luxury items, including premium cosmetics, designer fashion products, exquisite watches, and fine jewelry, making flexible payment options particularly appealing for their significant purchases.
Initially, NanuPay is accessible to customers from Vietnam. Shinsegae Duty Free has ambitious plans to swiftly expand the service to its Incheon Airport store, a major international gateway, before progressively extending coverage to shoppers from a broader range of countries, further strengthening its strategic partnership with DealMe.
