Leading indoor golf simulator company, Golfzon, successfully concluded the domestic qualifiers for its highly anticipated global screen golf tournament, the 2026 Golfzon China Open. Held from March 10 to May 31, this prestigious event showcases Golfzon’s commitment to advancing the sport of virtual golf on a global scale.

The 2026 Golfzon China Open boasts an impressive total prize pool of 20 million yuan ($2.9 million), attracting golfers worldwide, from seasoned professionals to passionate amateurs. This global screen golf championship truly offers an inclusive platform for players of all skill levels.

This year’s domestic qualifiers witnessed tremendous participation, drawing approximately 20,000 enthusiastic golfers. This figure included 4,461 professionals and 15,523 amateurs, collectively completing over 40,000 rounds. Such widespread engagement underscores the immense popularity and growing excitement surrounding this 10-month global screen golf tour, which is set to run through December.

The Korean qualifiers for the Golfzon China Open featured top talents from GTOUR, the renowned domestic screen golf tour. Lee Jun-hee, a player with a GTOUR victory to his name, and Ha Seung-bin 2, recognized as the GTOUR rookie of 2024, notably tied for first place, demonstrating exceptional skill on the virtual greens.

Further strong performances came from Park Chan-hee, another GTOUR victor, who secured third place. The competition also saw the 2025 GTOUR grand winner, Lee Yong-hee, and Ha Ki-won tying for an impressive fourth place.

Women professionals also made their mark, with Shim Ji-yeon, an eight-time WGTOUR champion, achieving a commendable sixth-place finish, highlighting the depth of talent across all divisions.

The amateur division proved equally thrilling, with over 30,000 rounds played. A Golfzon member identified by the nickname “Daejeon Tanbang Joy” delivered an outstanding performance, recording a total of 38 under par – 19 on both Course A and Course B – to tie for first place with another skilled member known as “Oncheon!!v.i.p.”

A total of 300 players, comprising 200 professionals and 100 amateurs, have successfully advanced to the main rounds. These pivotal stages are scheduled as offline events in July and August, taking place at the esteemed Golfzon City Golf Yanji. Following these rounds, 20 finalists will be meticulously selected through a challenging two-round stroke play format.

The upcoming domestic main rounds are set to showcase an elite roster of top professionals from both the KPGA and KLPGA first division tours. This star-studded lineup includes Kim Hong-taek, celebrated for holding the record for the most GTOUR wins; Im Jin-young, the esteemed winner of the Rejuran Championship; and Jo Ah-yeon, recognized as the youngest-ever member of the national team.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to all players who participated in the qualifiers for this global screen golf tour, and we eagerly anticipate the excitement of the main rounds,” stated Son Jang-soon, head of the new business division at Golfzon, emphasizing the company’s enthusiasm for the tournament’s progression.

The 2026 Golfzon China Open will continue with its main rounds throughout August, culminating in a grand final round from December 17 to 20 at China Golfzon City Golf. This premier e-sports golf event will be broadcast worldwide, offering a spectacular grand prize of 5 million yuan to the ultimate champion of screen golf.
