Samsung Electronics Co. has officially surpassed US$1 billion in sales for its cutting-edge sixth-generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM4) chips, industry sources confirmed on Tuesday.
This remarkable achievement arrives swiftly, only four months after the South Korean tech giant pioneered mass production and global shipments of these advanced HBM4 chips back in February, establishing itself as a world leader.
Looking ahead, industry analysts project Samsung’s robust HBM4 revenue stream will further swell, potentially surpassing US$1.2 billion by the close of June.
This rapid expansion in HBM4 chip shipments since their market launch has significantly bolstered Samsung’s market share within the intensely competitive and rapidly expanding High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) sector.
Crucially, HBM4 chips are engineered to power the next wave of artificial intelligence accelerators, including pioneering platforms like Nvidia Corp.’s Vera Rubin. Given Nvidia’s dominance with its graphics processing units (GPUs) in demanding generative AI applications, HBM4’s role in future AI infrastructure is paramount.
