Samsung Electronics Co. recently convened a critical global strategy meeting, primarily focusing on accelerating the expansion of its high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chip sales. Industry sources disclosed Sunday that discussions also extensively covered the review and establishment of long-term supply agreements with major global customers, reinforcing Samsung’s strategic market positioning.

As the world’s leading memory chipmaker, Samsung convened its semiannual global strategy meeting last week. The comprehensive agenda included a thorough review of its first-half performance and the meticulous outlining of business strategies for the latter half of the year, directly addressing the booming demand for high-performance chips crucial for cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

Chaired by Jun Young-hyun, the esteemed head of Samsung’s Device Solution Division, Thursday’s critical meeting saw senior executives diligently evaluating strategies designed to accelerate HBM sales growth. Sources close to the discussions revealed a strong emphasis on negotiating and securing long-term supply agreements with prominent global technology companies, solidifying future partnerships.

High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) emerged as a central pillar of the meeting’s agenda. This significant focus highlights Samsung’s intensified efforts to strategically bolster its formidable position within the aggressively expanding market for AI-related semiconductors, a critical component for future technological advancements.

Demonstrating its pioneering spirit, Samsung initiated the mass production shipments of its groundbreaking HBM4 chips in February, marking a global first. Further reinforcing its industry leadership, the company also became the first to ship samples of the even more advanced HBM4E just last month, setting new benchmarks in memory technology.

Beyond HBM sales, securing long-term supply agreements constituted another paramount focus of the meeting. This strategic emphasis reflects the current landscape where global technology companies are actively striving to guarantee stable and uninterrupted chip supplies to meet the escalating, AI-driven demand across various sectors.

During its recent first-quarter earnings call, Samsung underscored its proactive approach, confirming ongoing collaborations with major customers to establish comprehensive long-term supply agreements. The company proudly announced the successful signing of several such deals, strategies designed to meticulously manage future demand and significantly fortify its overall business stability in the competitive semiconductor market.
