SEVENTEEN member Joshua is set to speak once again at the UNESCO headquarters.
According to HYBE Music Group label Pledis Entertainment, on the 16th, Joshua will attend the ‘UNESCO x SEVENTEEN: Celebrating Youth, Creativity and Well-Being Together’ commemorative ceremony at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, on the upcoming 25th (local time). He will be present in his capacity as a UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassador.
This special event is organized to celebrate the global youth support program ‘Going Together – For Youth Creativity & Well-Being’ (referred to as ‘Going Together’), a collaborative initiative championed by SEVENTEEN and UNESCO. Joshua will take the podium, representing the group, to offer encouragement to young people across the globe. Notable attendees will also include Khaled El-Enany, UNESCO Assistant Director-General.
Upon their appointment as UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors in 2024, SEVENTEEN generously donated 1 million dollars, establishing the Global Youth Grant Scheme. This fund has been instrumental in supporting various projects, focusing on boosting youth confidence and resilience through music, arts, and sports, fostering the development of creative youth communities, and enhancing youth mental health.
Additionally, last year, coinciding with International Youth Day, SEVENTEEN made a further donation of proceeds from the ‘JOOPITER presents: sacai x SEVENTEEN’ charity auction. These funds will be allocated to provide enhanced support for 10 outstanding teams chosen from the 100 youth groups who participated in the ‘Going Together’ program and demonstrated exceptional achievements.
SEVENTEEN was notably invited to the 13th ‘UNESCO Youth Forum,’ hosted at the UNESCO headquarters in November 2023, where they became the first K-pop artists to lead a special session. The subsequent June marked their official appointment as UNESCO’s inaugural Youth Goodwill Ambassadors.
