Global K-pop phenomenon BTS delivered an unforgettable two-night spectacle at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium, drawing an astounding 110,000 dedicated fans for the Busan leg of their acclaimed “Arirang” world tour. The second concert, held on June 13, served as a momentous celebration, coinciding with the 13th anniversary of the group’s debut on June 13, 2013.
“We spent 13 years together, and I think we were able to endure for a long time because of you,” member Jin emotionally conveyed to the group’s immense fanbase, affectionately known as ARMY, during the anniversary performance. He extended profound thanks for their unwavering support throughout their journey.
J-Hope reflected on this significant milestone and the group’s incredible global journey, expressing his astonishment at the overwhelming international support witnessed throughout the “Arirang” tour.
“I can’t believe it’s June 13. It’s already been 13 years with you — it’s amazing. Thank you so much,” he gratefully stated. “As we toured overseas, I was surprised to see how many people love us. I could really feel that we are receiving such passionate support.”
Despite the immense global response, J-Hope underscored the unique importance of performing on home soil. “But all seven of us are Korean. There is nothing better than performing in Korea,” he declared. “Performing in my country, on this land, is the most joyful.”
Jimin attributed BTS’s continuous growth and success to their loyal fans, while also acknowledging the presence of his childhood teachers at the Busan concert. “We will repay you with better performances and good music,” he promised.
Leader RM emotionally recounted the group’s incredible 13-year journey, noting how it now “flashes before my eyes.”
“It is an honor and I am truly grateful that we can be together like this,” he shared. “Wherever we are, and whatever we look like, we will always do our best to show you who we are as we are.”
He concluded with a heartfelt plea, “I hope you will stay with us for a long, long time.”
These highly anticipated Busan concerts marked BTS’s triumphant return to the city since their “Yet to Come in Busan” concert in October 2022, which was held in support of the city’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo.
The “Arirang” world tour commenced in April in Goyang, northwest of Seoul, before embarking on its international leg. Since then, the global superstars have performed in numerous cities worldwide, including Tokyo, Tampa, El Paso, Mexico City, Stanford, and Las Vegas, captivating approximately 840,000 fans across 15 North American shows alone.
Saturday’s anniversary concert was also broadcast live to an expansive audience in some 3,800 cinemas across more than 80 countries, including major South Korean multiplex chains, allowing ARMY globally to partake in the celebration.
The monumental “Arirang” tour is slated to continue until March, encompassing an impressive 86 shows in 34 cities, with the next thrilling stop scheduled for Madrid on June 26-27.
