BLACKPINK’s Lisa took center stage at the spectacular US Opening Ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles.
On the 12th (local time), Lisa joined global artists Anitta and Rema to perform their collaborative single ‘Goals’ at the highly anticipated opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA North American World Cup, held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, USA.
Lisa captivated the audience with her powerful stage presence, appearing in a striking white outfit featuring short shorts that accentuated her iconic long legs. She delivered a flawless live vocal performance and dynamic choreography, making a significant impact on the field. Following her captivating act, Anitta and Rema presented their individual stages, before all three artists reunited to conclude the ceremony in front of a massive replica of the World Cup trophy.
Lisa’s involvement in the official World Cup album began with the release of the single ‘Goals’ on the 22nd of last month, featuring Anitta and Rema. This historic performance by Lisa marks her as the first K-pop girl group member ever to perform at a FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, and the second K-pop artist overall, following BTS member Jungkook.
The Thai-born superstar, Lisa, debuted as a member of the globally renowned group BLACKPINK in 2016, quickly garnering immense popularity worldwide. While currently focusing on her burgeoning solo career, she also released a full BLACKPINK group album last February.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, uniquely co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, featured separate regional opening ceremonies. At the Mexico opening ceremony, also held on the 12th, singer-songwriter Lee Jae performed the official theme song ‘DNA’ – which impressively included Korean lyrics – alongside celebrated tenor Andrea Bocelli.
Looking ahead, the globally acclaimed K-pop group BTS is also slated to perform at the final match’s halftime show in July, further cementing K-pop’s prominent role in this international sporting event.
