South Korea recorded an unprecedented surge in its exports during May, with outbound shipments soaring over 50 percent year-on-year to hit a new monthly high of $87.8 billion. This significant growth in Korean trade was largely propelled by the ongoing semiconductor supercycle and robust global demand, as indicated by government data released on Monday.

This impressive export performance marks the third consecutive month that South Korea’s monthly outbound shipments have surpassed the $80 billion threshold. The sustained robust trade figures, highlighting the nation’s economic resilience, were officially reported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.
