Hana Financial Group announced Wednesday the launch of a comprehensive support program designed to empower people with disabilities in Korea, fostering their journey towards sustainable and independent lives.
Responding to the increasing number of individuals with disabilities across the nation, this impactful initiative focuses on five critical areas: rehabilitation services, educational development, accessible housing and welfare, inclusive employment opportunities, and specialized financial services.
The official launch of this significant program was marked by a donation ceremony held Tuesday at Hana Financial’s headquarters in Myeong-dong, central Seoul.
Through this program, donated funds will be strategically utilized to provide customized assistive equipment for 300 low-income children and adolescents with disabilities, who often face significant barriers in accessing essential welfare support.
In the realm of education, Hana Financial is committed to offering vital job-linked training programs. These programs are tailored for 85 individuals with developmental or hearing disabilities, as well as those with borderline intellectual functioning, enhancing their vocational skills and career prospects.
Further bolstering educational support, the group will establish innovative “digital labs” in three special education schools nationwide. These state-of-the-art facilities, designed to replicate authentic workplace environments, will provide invaluable technical training for students and essential professional development programs for teachers, preparing students for future employment.
For housing and welfare, Hana Financial Group plans to select 20 aging residential facilities serving people with disabilities across Korea. Through renovation and vehicle support projects, the group aims to significantly improve living conditions and mobility for residents, enhancing their quality of life.
Addressing employment challenges, the financial group is forging a strategic partnership with the Autism Society of Korea to create meaningful job opportunities. This collaboration underscores their dedication to fostering an inclusive workforce.
As part of this commitment, Hana Financial plans to establish a unique multipurpose cultural space. This facility will proudly employ autistic baristas and talented artists with disabilities, providing a platform for their skills and creativity to flourish.
Additionally, Hana Financial will expand its customized financial services to better serve individuals with autism and their families. This includes comprehensive support for crucial areas like estate planning and asset management, ensuring greater financial security and stability.
Reflecting on the program’s profound impact, Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo stated at the ceremony, “We are dedicated to helping children and adolescents overcome the barriers presented by disabilities, supporting their growth and ensuring they thrive as integral members of society.”
He further emphasized, “Our commitment extends to continuously supporting people with disabilities, promoting their rights, and ensuring their stable and meaningful integration into the fabric of society.”
