Daesang Group has officially announced the launch of the ‘6th Daesang E.T.F.F (Eat & Travel Film Festival),’ an exciting smartphone film competition exclusively for college students. Applications are now open until June 3, inviting aspiring filmmakers worldwide to participate in this unique global experience.
Marking a significant milestone, this edition proudly expands its horizons into Europe, with Budapest, Hungary, selected as the host city. This follows successful previous festivals held across vibrant Southeast Asian nations like Vietnam and Indonesia, showcasing the event’s growing international footprint and commitment to cultural exchange.
The rigorous selection process will see 48 talented finalists chosen on June 23 through comprehensive document screening. These finalists will then be organized into teams of six, embarking on an intensive month-long project development phase. This includes critical stages such as creative scenario writing, meticulous filming preparation, and strategic marketing planning, fostering a truly collaborative and educational environment.
A highlight of the festival, participants will journey to the picturesque city of Budapest, Hungary, for two immersive weeks starting August 4. Here, they will bring their visions to life, producing engaging food-themed short films, each under five minutes in length. The culmination of their efforts will be showcased at an exclusive preview event on August 17, drawing attendance from esteemed film professionals and local audiences alike.
The program welcomes college students of all nationalities and academic majors who possess a genuine passion for diverse cultures and storytelling. Eligibility extends to current students, those currently on leave, and prospective graduates. Essential requirements include basic conversational English proficiency and valid eligibility for international travel.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit their entries via the official Daesang E.T.F.F. website. The application package requires a compelling 30-second English self-introduction video, famously known as the ‘Cast Me’ video, alongside a well-crafted 300-word English essay detailing their aspirations and expected gains from participating in this unique program.
Selected participants will receive exceptional support, including round-trip airfare and comprehensive travel assistance throughout their journey. Beyond the invaluable experience, all participants will be honored with a prestigious ‘Daesang Global Leader’ certificate, recognizing their achievement. Furthermore, top-performing teams will be celebrated with significant prize money, sharing a total of 18 million won (approximately $12,200 USD).
Choi Sung-soo, CEO of Daesang Holdings, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are confident that this year’s festival will deliver an even more enriching experience rooted in mutual respect and cultural exchange. We strongly encourage students who aspire to develop into global talent to seize this incredible opportunity and apply.”
