LG Display announced Wednesday that its cutting-edge 27-inch 540/720Hz OLED gaming monitor panel has been honored with the prestigious “Display of the Year” award at the Society for Information Display’s (SID) annual Display Industry Awards.
SID, recognized as the world’s largest display organization, convenes approximately 7,000 industry professionals, researchers, and academics annually. These esteemed awards celebrate the most innovative and impactful display technologies introduced over the past year.
The “Display of the Year” is the top distinction, bestowed upon a single product deemed to possess the greatest potential to significantly influence and shape the future landscape of the display industry.
The award-winning LG Display panel integrates its exclusive Dynamic Frequency & Resolution technology, empowering users to effortlessly switch between an ultra-high-refresh-rate mode and a high-resolution mode, optimizing the gaming experience.
For competitive gaming, the high-refresh-rate mode delivers an exceptional 720Hz, effectively minimizing motion blur and ghosting—crucial for fast-paced titles like first-person shooters and racing games. Conversely, the high-resolution mode provides crisp QHD resolution paired with a robust 540Hz refresh rate, all supported by a proprietary algorithm meticulously designed to maintain superior image quality even during intense, high-speed action.
Further affirming its performance, the innovative panel also secured a “Clear Motion Ratio 21,000” certification from the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA), marking the highest possible rating under this stringent standard.
Choi Young-seok, Chief Technology Officer of LG Display, reiterated the company’s vision: “As a technology-driven company, we are committed to continuously developing innovative OLED technologies and solidifying our leadership in the dynamic gaming display market.”
