Global K-pop sensation BTS has achieved another remarkable milestone, with their fifth studio album securing platinum certification in France. According to BigHit Music, the album, which sold 100,000 units across physical copies, downloads, and streams, received this prestigious recognition from the National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing.
This significant achievement follows closely on the heels of the album’s gold certification in France, which BTS earned just six days after its release in March. The rapid progression from gold to platinum underscores the immense popularity and sales power of the K-pop group in the French market.
With this latest recognition, BTS now proudly boasts four platinum-certified albums in France, solidifying their status as a dominant force in the global music industry.
Beyond France, the album “Arirang” has also garnered immense success in Japan, achieving “triple platinum” status. As of March, “Arirang” had sold over 750,000 units in Japan, demonstrating its widespread appeal across Asia.
Further cementing its historic impact, “Arirang” made history as the first album by a K-pop act to spend an impressive three weeks at No. 1 on the highly competitive Billboard 200 chart, showcasing its unprecedented international reach.
The 14-track album, prominently featuring the lead single “Swim,” marks a highly anticipated comeback for the band. This release is particularly significant as it’s BTS’s first new music after a four-year hiatus, which was prompted by the members’ mandatory military service, making its success even more poignant for fans worldwide.
