Lucas Officially Concludes Contract with SM Entertainment, Embraces Solo Career

Lucas, the well-known former member of K-pop sensation NCT, has officially terminated his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment. The agency made the announcement on Friday, confirming a new chapter for the artist as he continues his burgeoning solo career.

SM Entertainment’s Official Statement

In a statement released via the global fan community Weverse, SM Entertainment clarified that its exclusive contract with Lucas “officially concluded as of April 24.” The agency expressed profound gratitude to fans for their unwavering support and conveyed best wishes for Lucas’s future endeavors.

“We sincerely thank fans for the great love and support they have shown Lucas,” the agency stated. “We will cherish the time we have shared with Lucas, from his trainee days to his various activities following his debut, and we will support his new endeavors going forward.”

Lucas’s Journey: From NCT and WayV to Independent Artist

Lucas initially debuted in 2018, quickly gaining recognition as a prominent member of NCT and its popular unit, WayV. His early career saw him participate in numerous group activities, establishing a significant global presence.

Departure Amidst Controversy

His involvement with NCT and WayV eventually paused following allegations of gaslighting, cheating, and manipulative behavior towards multiple women who claimed to be his ex-girlfriends. After a period of hiatus, Lucas announced his official departure from both groups in May 2023.

Focusing on a New Solo Music Path

Since his departure from the groups, Lucas has successfully transitioned to a solo music career. This new phase was marked by the release of his solo EP, “Renegade,” in April 2024, signaling his continued dedication to his artistic journey as an independent artist.
