Former ‘Boys II Planet’ stars Chuei Liyu and Kang Woojin are officially set to make their highly anticipated debut as the new K-pop boy duo, Flare U.
The exciting announcement came as the duo launched their official social media channels on Friday, captivating fans with the reveal of their group name, a dynamic logo trailer video, and compelling teaser images.
FNC Entertainment, the agency behind Flare U, explained the meaningful inspiration behind the group’s name. ‘Flare U’ symbolizes the powerful moment when two unique lights, embodying Chuei Liyu and Kang Woojin, converge to create a single, brilliant glow. Furthermore, the ‘U’ signifies the invaluable role of their fans, highlighting that their synergy and musical journey are truly complete with their supporters.
Both Chuei Liyu and Kang Woojin first captured public attention on Mnet’s globally recognized survival program, ‘Boys II Planet.’ During their time on the show, they garnered significant praise for their exceptional performance skills and powerful vocals. Chuei Liyu notably secured the 10th spot, while Kang Woojin placed 15th, both impressively close to qualifying for the final debut group, Alpha Drive One, which was composed of the top eight contestants.
Even prior to their official debut as Flare U, the talented duo successfully cultivated a dedicated fanbase through various fan meetings and appearances on popular TV and radio programs. To further build anticipation for their official launch, Flare U is scheduled to perform at the prestigious ‘KCON Japan 2026’ on May 9.
